The
Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is
India’s leading recognized technical professional society.
Establishes in 1953 by a small group of pioneering practitioners,
telecommunications engineers and related disciplines, the IETE has
now more than 50,000 members through 52 centres located in different
parts of the country including one in Kathmandu, Nepal. The IETE
members are the key scientific and technical professionals engaged
in all aspects of the development of high-tech areas of Electronics,
Telecommunications, Computer Science and Information Technology.
Govt. of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial
Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an
Educational Institution of National Eminence.
The objectives of the IETE focus on advancing
electro-technology. To achieve these objectives, the IETE conducts
and sponsors technical meetings, conference, symposia, exhibitions
etc. all over the country; publishes nearly 50% of India’s Technical
papers in the above areas and provide continuing education
programmes to update the knowledge and expertise of its members. The
IETE also facilitates its student members to acquire engineering
Diploma/ Degree equivalent qualifications through its well
established and recognized examination system. In addition, the IETE
encourages and welcomes the setting up of student’s forum in
engineering colleges / universities in the country.
